The Department of Sociology was
established in 1984. The faculty members of Department have published their
research work in several journals and presented the research papers in state,
national and international level seminar conferences covering a variety of
fields i.e. family and kinship, social and religious movements, tribal society,
Women Empowerment, gender, environment, the sociology of development, urban
sociology, and sociology of health, sociology of, education, migration.

The
Department has been organized and guest lectures of distinguished scholars. The
faculty members also delivered lectures and given seminars.

The
Department draws students from different parts of Society. Faculty members have
an membership of Life Member of Marathi Samajshatra Parishad, Shivaji Vidyapith
Samajshatra Parishad, Indian Sociological Society, New Delhi.

Every
year department organizes various workshops under lead college scheme of
shivaji university, kolhapur.

The
department has also organises Webinars, Seminars, workshops etc.

The
students also participates in various field projects, paper presentation in
swminars, avishkar research projects etc.
